Know where

Quill has no server that receives your audio, transcripts, or API keys. Quill doesn’t even track your usage.

Direct to your provider

Your audio travels over HTTPS to the provider you choose. That provider’s retention and training rules apply.

History stays on your device

History is on by default and keeps transcripts for one hour. Change the retention period or use private mode to stop saving history.

Optional text cleanup

Enable “Tidy my dictation” to send the transcript to Groq with your Groq key. Cleanup sends text, never audio.

No ads or analytics in Quill

The app has no analytics or telemetry. Optional crash reports are shared only when you choose to send them.

Do I need my own AI key?

Yes. Quill uses a key from your own AI service account to send your recording directly to that service and get text back. You do not need a Quill account.

Which AI services can I use?

Quill supports keys from Groq, OpenRouter, and Gemini.

Is Quill free?

Quill is free, with no ads or paid upgrades. Your AI service may charge for usage. 99% of our users fit within free tiers of AI services.

Where does my audio go?

Your audio goes directly to your chosen AI service over HTTPS. Quill has no server that receives your audio, transcripts, or API keys, and does not track your usage. Your AI service's retention and training rules apply. Read the privacy policy.

Why does Quill need accessibility access?

Quill uses Android's Accessibility Service to find the focused text field and insert your dictation. It reads the field's existing text and cursor position to preserve surrounding text and confirm insertion. Password fields are excluded.
